Nose to Toes Esthetics

Amy Canning has spent most of her life living in Fort Nelson. Though she moved away a few times, she kept coming back and eventually started a family in the town she considers her home. It has everything she wants: quick and easy access to nature, leisurely pace, family activities and organizations and, above all, wonderful people. "I love the small town feel of Fort Nelson," she says, and adds "I enjoy being able to go to the grocery store and visit with my social network!"

Amy grew up in an entrepreneurial family where making one's own way was a normal way of life. It was only natural that Amy would be drawn to business ownership herself. Amy knew early on that she wanted to pursue a career in esthetics because the idea of pampering people and providing them with a little escape from the everyday appealed to her. Being able to combine her passion for esthetics with the challenge of entrepreneurship makes each new day exciting for Amy. "I love the one on one with people," she remarks. When her clients tell her that they feel better about themselves after a service or treatment, Amy feels as though she's been able to make a small difference in their lives.

Opening her own salon was a proud moment for Amy. Being awarded the Entrepreneur of the Year Award that same year made all of the hard work that went into launching the business worthwhile for her. But life isn't all about work for Amy. Owning her own business gives her the flexibility to schedule her days around her children, and that's usually where you'll find her outside of the shop. They like to go for walks and go swimming, and Amy also likes to experiment with new recipes in the kitchen during her down time.
