The Hair Factory

Shari Svean was born and raised in Fort Nelson. As an adult she left Fort Nelson briefly, but it wasn't long before she felt Fort Nelson calling her back. "This is home!" she declares, and upon her return she put down roots because she knew it was where she wanted to make her life.

When Shari's children were young, it was important to her that she be available to them even while earning a living. So she started "Shari's Country Cuts" in a home studio in her basement. As her kids got older and more independent, she longed for a bigger challenge, so in 2009 she transitioned from a home studio to a full-fledged salon business. She is proud of all of the services that the salon offers and the staff's commitment to excellence in customer service. She is also proud have provided numerous local cosmetology students the opportunity to gain hands-on job experience.

In a small town like Fort Nelson, says Shari, you're able to get to know your customers on a first name basis. It's also easier to get to know your neighbours. And, she adds, no one gives you a funny look when you say hi to a stranger on the street. All of these things help to give Fort Nelson a true community feel, and Shari has seen the community pull together on many different occasions to help out when a local was in need. Shari is grateful for all of these things and proud to serve the people of Fort Nelson.
